Lab Grown Diamond Education
Everything you need to know about lab grown diamonds — from how they're made to how to choose the perfect stone. Diamond Lab Australia is committed to helping you make an informed decision with confidence.
What Are Lab Grown Diamonds?
Lab grown diamonds are created using advanced technology that replicates the natural diamond-forming process. The result is a diamond that is chemically, physically, and optically identical to a mined diamond — certified by the same laboratories (GIA & IGI) and graded on the same 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight.

Understanding the 4Cs
Every diamond — lab grown or mined — is graded on four characteristics known as the 4Cs:
- Cut — The most important factor. Cut determines how brilliantly a diamond reflects light. Always prioritise an Excellent or Very Good cut grade.
- Colour — Graded D (colourless) to Z (yellow tint). For the best value, look for grades F which appear colourless to the naked eye.
- Clarity — Measures internal inclusions. VS2–SI1 grades offer excellent value — inclusions are invisible without magnification.
- Carat — The weight of the diamond. Lab grown diamonds allow you to maximise carat weight for your budget.
Certification
All Diamond Lab Australia stones come with independent certification from GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or IGI (International Gemological Institute). Never buy a diamond without a certificate — it's your guarantee of what you're getting.
